Skin Tag Removal

Acrochordons, otherwise called skin tags, are benign growths of the skin which appear like a piece of soft tissue, flesh color. Skin tags are benign growths which grow outward from some part of the body like face, eyelids, base of neck, armpits, belly, groin areas and under breasts.

Skin tags are found both in men and women, but some of the people might see growth of skin tags rising when they reach their middle age, or during periods of heightened hormone elevation, like during pregnancy. As skin tags are found more predominantly in areas of skin friction, tags are also commonly found among overweight individuals, as well as individuals who keep jewelry, like necklaces, on for long periods of their lives, which leads to constant rub on their skin. Even though this is more common in adulthood, toddlers and children also end up having skin tags in their underarm and neck regions.

Generally unrelated to a major health condition, skin tags are nothing to be concerned about. Skin tags rarely hurt or inconvenience, although people who have skin tags often prefer to have them miniaturized for aesthetic purposes.

The physicians at Skinpeccable use a number of successful medical methods to remove a skin tag, including excising, freezing with liquid nitrogen, and burning by cautery of an electrical device to cauterize the area. The site is washed thoroughly with alcohol before removing a skin tag each time and if necessary, depending on how large and where a skin tag is located, an anesthetic is administered to numb the area. Once the anesthetic is effective, there should be no discomfort involved in the process. Generally, tiny tags can often be eliminated as a simple office procedure without anesthesia.
